Suppose a ticket costs €15. Service fees are added at checkout. For one ticket, that might seem limited, but what happens when someone orders four tickets at once and pays service fees four times?

For organizers, service fees sometimes seem less important because they are often passed on to the visitor. Yet, it is precisely these extra costs that help determine how a visitor perceives the final price of an event.

Research into price psychology shows that it is not only the level of a price that matters, but also how logical, transparent, and fair additional costs feel.

Per ticket or per booking

Many ticketing systems charge service fees per ticket sold. With four tickets, the costs are therefore calculated four times.

An alternative is charging per booking. With a service fee of €1 per ticket, a visitor pays €4 for four tickets. With €1 per booking, it remains €1. For the organizer, both amounts can be passed on. For the visitor, however, the difference is clear. One person places one order, enters their details once, and makes one payment. From that perspective, a single booking fee can feel more logical than separate costs for each ticket.

Transparency counts

The moment at which costs become visible also plays a role. Mandatory additional costs that only appear during the ordering process can result in a less pleasant pricing experience. Therefore, a visitor who ultimately checks out does not automatically perceive the price structure as pleasant.

Therefore, when choosing a ticketing system, it makes sense to consider not only functionality and costs for the organizer, but also what the visitor ultimately pays.

One order, one booking fee

Flextickets deliberately chooses to charge per booking rather than per ticket. If someone orders multiple tickets at the same time, the fee is calculated only once.

Per ticket of per boeking

Veel ticketsystemen rekenen servicekosten per verkocht ticket. Bij vier tickets worden de kosten dus vier keer berekend.

Een alternatief is rekenen per boeking. Bij €1 servicekosten per ticket betaalt een bezoeker voor vier tickets €4. Bij €1 per boeking blijft het bij €1. Voor de organisator kunnen beide bedragen worden doorberekend. Voor de bezoeker is het verschil echter duidelijk. Eén persoon plaatst één bestelling, vult één keer zijn gegevens in en doet één betaling. Vanuit dat perspectief kan één boekingsfee logischer aanvoelen dan afzonderlijke kosten voor ieder ticket.

Transparantie telt mee

Ook het moment waarop kosten zichtbaar worden speelt een rol. Verplichte extra kosten die pas tijdens het bestelproces verschijnen, kunnen een minder prettige prijsbeleving opleveren. Een bezoeker die uiteindelijk afrekent, hoeft de prijsopbouw dus niet automatisch als prettig te ervaren.

Daarom is het bij de keuze voor een ticketsysteem zinvol om niet alleen te kijken naar functionaliteit en kosten voor de organisator, maar ook naar wat de bezoeker uiteindelijk betaalt.

Eén bestelling, één boekingsfee

Flextickets kiest bewust voor kosten per boeking in plaats van per ticket. Bestelt iemand meerdere tickets tegelijk, dan wordt de fee één keer berekend.

Flexticket works well, is approachable and transparent

We collaborated with Flexticket for the Dolorosa Easter theatre performance. We processed 1,700 visitors. It worked very well, and they are very approachable for questions and suggestions, providing quick substantive responses. Furthermore, calculating costs per order instead of per ticket is much fairer and cheaper.

Flex tickets flexible

I am very satisfied with Flextickets. We organize events with the theme of farmer-citizen connection. Target group: families with young children. Number of visitors between 250 and 750. Previously, register by email and pay at the cash register. Took a lot of time. Now via flex tickets. You can determine many things yourself and fill them in in advance and much less work needs to be done on the preparation. During the run-up, something sometimes changes, and that can easily be adjusted on the page.

Very satisfied with this ticket service. At competitive costs and flexibility in input and adjustments during sales. It also looks neat on the e-tickets and scanning works fine. Good overviews online and via export to Excel. And if you have a question, we will respond adequately and quickly!

Perfect platform

Thanks to flextickets, ticket sales for our festivals are made so much easier. The interface for building the ticket page is clear and very clear, you do not have to be an IT specialist to build a very attractive page. In addition, the scanning function of the tickets is ideal during the festival, you can see all live data during the festival, so you know up-to-date how many people are already present at the festival (very useful during emergencies), the tickets that have already been scanned are immediately blocked and therefore cannot be scanned twice.

What I like most about working with flextickets is the people behind the service, as soon as something is not clear or even needs to be adjusted at the last minute, it can always be resolved within a very short time. If I send an email, I will receive an answer to the question within 24 hours, and a solution will often be provided. The page that has been created is also monitored, and if there are any imperfections, I will be alerted to this.

In short, Flextickets stands for its customers and I recommend the service to anyone who, like me, was drowning in the world of digital ticketing a few years ago.

Clear and handy

We use Flextickets for various events. To manage visitor flows, we can adjust the number ourselves, depending on the location in question and the space it has available. In the dashboard we can see exactly how many people are coming where. Rebooking can also be done quickly and conveniently, allowing us to offer extra service for our customers.

Very personal, fast and always works.

We have been working with Flextickets for 2/3 years now and have always had a great experience. The functionalities and insight are slightly less than the competition, but you really pay a lot less for it (for us almost 1/3rd of the price of, for example, Eventix). If you have questions or want some extra insight, you always have the same contact person to email to, and I have never had to wait longer than a day for a response (with a solution).

Would definitely recommend it. I think Flextickets offers a great affordable solution that is guaranteed to always work.

Flextickets is introducing a reduced rate for small-scale events. From now on, organizers will pay €0.50 per booking excluding VAT when the ticket price is a maximum of €5.00 and no more than 100 tickets are sold.

The lower rate also applies to non-profit events and events for charities. For standard events, the rate remains €1.00 per booking, excluding VAT.
