The Bates House

The Bates House is a historic event venue in Frank Melville Memorial Park in Setauket, New York. Available for private hire, it provides a welcoming setting for weddings, receptions, milestone celebrations, family gatherings and corporate events. Organisers can also consider it for retreats, conferences and reunions.

Inside, the house offers a foyer, the Terrace Room and the larger Jennie Melville Ballroom. Together, the spaces provide more than 2,400 square feet for events, with capacity for up to 120 guests according to the venue's current information. The ballroom includes a stage, making room for speeches, live music or a DJ. An outdoor patio adds another space for guests to gather, while the bridal suite is a useful feature for wedding celebrations.

The venue is offered as a flexible space, giving organisers the freedom to work with their preferred caterers and event suppliers. Tables and chairs are included, and the kitchen has a refrigerator, sink and counter space. It does not have a stove, so catering arrangements need to account for that. The venue can share recommendations for caterers, planners and other vendors, while event design and catering remain the organiser's responsibility.

Set within a park, the house offers a distinctive backdrop for both intimate occasions and larger gatherings. On-site parking and step-free, single-level access are available. Event planners can contact the venue to check date availability and arrange a visit before deciding whether the rooms and facilities suit their event.
