Long Beach Playhouse

Long Beach Playhouse is a community theatre in Long Beach, California, presenting a programme of plays and musicals on two stages. Its Mainstage has horseshoe seating for around 200 people and hosts a mix of contemporary and classic dramas, comedies and musical productions. The smaller Studio Theatre seats 98 and is used for contemporary, experimental and other distinctive work.

For event organisers, the Playhouse offers some options beyond attending a scheduled performance, although it is not a general-purpose theatre rental venue. Its theatre spaces are usually occupied by its own productions and rehearsals, so standard private hires are very limited. Local theatre companies and producing organisations can apply for the curated Studio Collaborative, which gives selected groups the opportunity to stage their own productions in the Studio during its designated season. Applicants should check the current submission schedule and production requirements before planning around this option.

Depending on availability, meeting space in the gallery rooms and lobby may also be arranged. Non-profit organisations can enquire about a Command Performance, booking an entire performance of a Playhouse production for a fundraiser. This can give organisers a ready-made theatrical outing to offer their supporters, subject to availability and agreement with the Playhouse.

The venue is on East Anaheim Street, across from Recreation Park, and has a parking lot behind the building. Organisers should contact the Playhouse directly to confirm current availability, access arrangements and terms for any proposed use.
