Rederij het IJ hires out the Stortemelk as a floating venue for corporate events and celebrations. The vessel is suitable for groups of 75 to 350 people and departs from boarding points in Amsterdam and Zaandam. By arrangement, the company can also pick up guests at other locations, provided they are accessible by water.

The Stortemelk combines two indoor salons with spacious outdoor decks, including a panoramic deck. This means guests can enjoy the outdoors in fine weather, while the heated salons provide space in rainy or cold conditions. Depending on the group size and programme, the vessel is suitable for drinks receptions, parties, company outings, staff gatherings, anniversaries or association days. Weddings are also possible, from a celebratory cruise to a wedding ceremony on board. The Stortemelk is an officially designated wedding venue for Amsterdam.

Organisers can add food and entertainment to their cruise. Options include drinks reception snacks, buffets, barbecues and walking dinners. Other options include a DJ, live music, a pub quiz, a casino, a cocktail bar and a photo booth. The arrangements are tailored to the occasion and the group's wishes. A cruise might, for example, travel along the IJ and the Markermeer, passing places such as Forteiland Pampus and Muiderslot Castle. The boat can also be used for water-based transfers.

Rederij het IJ is a small, family-run business with a personal approach. The owners sail on board and oversee the arrangements, providing a single point of contact for both the preparations and the day itself. The company runs on HVO100 diesel and uses solar panels to supply power at its permanent mooring.
