The Penny

The Penny is a downtown San Luis Obispo venue for couples and event planners seeking a distinctive indoor and outdoor setting. Housed in a former 1930s blacksmith shop, the space retains its historic brickwork and industrial character, complemented by contemporary furnishings and decor. Its central location puts guests within walking distance of local hotels, restaurants and nightlife.

The venue combines an indoor event space of more than 2,000 square feet with a private outdoor courtyard. The indoor room can accommodate up to 125 guests seated or 300 standing. The courtyard offers a separate setting for ceremonies, drinks receptions and gatherings, while a bridal lounge gives wedding parties a place to prepare before the celebration.

Weddings are a particular focus, with all-inclusive options that bring together venue coordination, catering, bar service, DJ and sound equipment, decor, furniture, tableware, set-up and breakdown. Couples can personalise the experience, with further options including floral packages, draping, a photobooth and additional rentals. The team also supports planning, timelines and communication with vendors.

The space is also available for corporate events, holiday parties, workshops, staff retreats, birthdays, rehearsal dinners, cocktail parties, product launches, networking events, fundraisers and other private celebrations.
