Sloan Performing Arts Center

Sloan Performing Arts Center is a performing arts venue on the University of Rochester's River Campus in Rochester, New York. Its principal performance space is the Smith Theater, a flexible black box theatre that can be arranged to suit different productions and audience layouts. The centre is designed for theatre, dance and music, and also supports rehearsals, classes, workshops and other scheduled gatherings.

Across its three storeys, the building includes an atrium and lobby, a green room, dressing rooms, a box office, and dedicated scene, costume and prop shops. These facilities give performers and production teams practical support before, during and after a show. The theatre's adaptable configuration makes it suitable for a range of stage presentations, while the lobby can provide a welcoming arrival area for audiences and guests.

The centre is part of the University of Rochester's River Campus performing arts facilities and hosts university productions and public performances. Its spaces are also included in the university's reservation system. Organisers from outside the university are advised to contact Event and Classroom Management to discuss campus space rental, availability and requirements. Reservation arrangements and access may depend on university schedules and approval, so event planners should confirm the details directly before building a programme around the venue.

The building is designed with accessible routes, including an entrance ramp, wide paths and accessible parking and drop-off arrangements. Its location beside Todd Union and near Strong Auditorium places it within the campus arts corridor. For organisers seeking a theatre setting for a performance, workshop or other scheduled gathering, Sloan offers a dedicated stage environment with backstage and audience-support spaces on campus.
