Raccoon River Park Nature Lodge

Raccoon River Park Nature Lodge is a lakeside venue in West Des Moines, Iowa, suited to organisers planning weddings, receptions, company gatherings, graduation parties and meetings. Set beside Blue Heron Lake, the lodge combines a natural park setting with a comfortable indoor room, giving guests a place to gather in every season.

The Lakeview Room can accommodate up to 120 people and can be divided into three sections for smaller events. Organisers can book the room by the hour, with different rates for weekday and evening or weekend rentals. Tables and chairs are provided, while the booking period needs to include the time required for setting up and clearing away. A building attendant is present during rentals.

The room includes wireless internet, a whiteboard and access to a shared patio. One section has a large screen and an electric fireplace. A kitchenette, projector and screen are among the available facilities, with some amenities included for weekday bookings and others offered as optional additions. A speaker and microphone can also be arranged.

The setting works particularly well for events that benefit from a view of the lake and the surrounding park. Couples can use the lodge for a wedding reception, while businesses and community groups can arrange a retreat, meeting or celebration. The City of West Des Moines manages bookings and offers weekday tours by appointment, subject to staff availability. Organisers should check current rental conditions when planning, especially if they intend to serve alcohol or use amplified sound on the patio.
