The Rutledge Room

The Rutledge Room is an intimate event venue in Charleston’s Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighbourhood, set inside a historic building dating from around 1855. Original ceiling details, exposed brick and carefully considered modern updates create a distinctive backdrop for celebrations that call for character, comfort and thoughtful hospitality.

The venue welcomes a broad range of occasions, including micro-weddings, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, bridal showers, milestone birthdays, graduation celebrations, baby showers, anniversary parties, corporate dinners, networking receptions and holiday gatherings. It can also accommodate private dining experiences and executive meetings, making it suitable for both social and professional organisers.

The venue is arranged across several connected spaces, including an entry room, a formal dining room and an enclosed private piazza. These areas can be used separately for smaller gatherings or combined for larger events. Depending on the layout, the venue can host up to 150 guests, while its private dining spaces are well suited to more intimate groups. The piazza provides an attractive indoor-outdoor setting for seated meals, drinks receptions and food stations.

Event organisers benefit from support from an in-house venue manager, custom floor plans, tables, chairs, bars, china and flatware. The space also offers high-speed Wi-Fi, dimmable chandeliers and extensive audiovisual capabilities, including wireless microphones and indoor and outdoor sound options.

Food and beverage services are provided through an on-site partnership with Hamby Catering & Events, offering Southern-inspired menus ranging from passed bites and food stations to plated dinners, buffets and desserts. Accommodation can also be arranged through a nearby vacation rental partner, helping planners create a convenient experience for wedding guests, visiting families and corporate groups.
