ABDO National Resource Centre

ABDO National Resource Centre is a dedicated conference and training venue in Birmingham, offering flexible spaces for organisers planning meetings, seminars, workshops, examinations, revision days, CPD courses and corporate training events. The facility occupies more than 11,000 square feet across two floors and can accommodate anything from small meetings for eight people to larger gatherings of up to 150 delegates.

Its adaptable layout allows organisers to use one large event area or divide the space into as many as five separate rooms. Rooms can be arranged in theatre, classroom, cabaret, boardroom or U-shape formats, making the venue suitable for presentations, group work, interviews, assessments and practical learning. Natural daylight, complimentary Wi-Fi and on-site parking help create a practical setting for delegates and event teams.

The centre has particular expertise in education, professional development and examination-based events. Its specialist clinical facilities include ten bays for refraction and contact lens work, a pre-screening area, optical technology, equipment for screening and minor eye condition services, and a glazing laboratory. These facilities support practical examinations, demonstrations and industry training that require more than a standard meeting room.

Organisers can also arrange refreshments and lunch support through the venue. Facilities include filtered water, bean-to-cup coffee and artisan teas, while external catering partners can provide breakfast items, buffet lunches, salads, sandwiches, street food boxes, cakes and drinks. The on-site events team supports clients from booking through to delivery, helping with room layouts, event preparation, catering requirements and delegate arrangements. Located just outside Birmingham city centre, the centre is accessible by road, rail and air, and sits outside the city’s ultra-low emission zone.
