Whittemore House

Whittemore House is a historic event venue and private club on the Washington University Danforth Campus in St Louis, Missouri. Set within an elegant early twentieth-century mansion, it offers a welcoming setting for meetings, business lunches, university functions, weddings, rehearsal dinners, receptions and private celebrations.

The venue provides a selection of rooms suited to different event formats and group sizes. Smaller spaces work well for interviews, board meetings, confidential discussions and intimate lunches, while the Main Dining Room can host formal seated dinners with presentations or larger buffet-style receptions. Depending on the layout, the dining facilities can accommodate up to 80 guests for seated dinners or up to 150 guests for buffet cocktails. Several rooms include conference-style seating, audiovisual capabilities and conference phone facilities, while Wi-Fi, screens, projectors, microphones, flip charts and whiteboards are available to support meetings and presentations.

Event organisers can choose from seated dinners, buffet-seated occasions and more relaxed buffet-cocktail receptions. The in-house culinary team prepares a broad selection of breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, canapé and dessert menus, with options designed for both structured business functions and social celebrations. Food and beverage service is arranged through the venue, allowing organisers to coordinate the event experience in one location.

Whittemore House also has a dedicated wedding offering, including outdoor ceremonies beneath a pergola, rehearsal dinners, reception menus, event planning support and complimentary valet service for wedding receptions. Members, Washington University departments and sponsored non-members can enquire about private events, with the venue team helping to arrange room layouts, menus, equipment, parking and guest logistics.
