Theatre@41 Ltd

Theatre@41 is an independent York theatre and a bookable space for performance, rehearsal and selected business events. Its John Cooper Studio is a flexible black box theatre that can be arranged in different configurations, making it suitable for performances, larger rehearsals, seminars and conferences. The venue states that the studio measures 10.51 by 15.72 metres and has a maximum capacity of 130 people, including performers, backstage crew and technical operators. A balcony can also be used during performances.

Alongside the main studio, Theatre@41 offers rehearsal rooms for hire. These rooms can also serve groups looking for space for meetings or classes, making the venue useful for local theatre companies, artists, tutors and community groups as well as event planners. The theatre supports both touring productions and local performing arts, and invites prospective hirers to enquire about using its spaces.

The building is just outside York's city walls on Monkgate, within walking distance of the city centre. It has step-free access to the theatre space, a lift to the first-floor auditorium, accessible seating and an accessible toilet. A licensed bar is available for performances. Theatre@41 is best suited to organisers seeking a characterful, compact theatre setting rather than a conventional banquet venue. Its adaptable studio and additional rehearsal spaces offer options for intimate performances, creative workshops, presentations and smaller conferences. Organisers can contact the venue to discuss the space and arrangements for their booking.
