Blackfordby Old School Room

Blackfordby Old School Room is a small, characterful venue available to hire in the village of Blackfordby, near Swadlincote. Set in a former school building dating from 1843, it offers event planners a welcoming setting for gatherings that suit a more intimate space. The main hall measures 50 square metres and can accommodate around 30-35 people.

The room is suitable for private celebrations, children’s parties, meetings, workshops and activities for local groups. Its history includes wedding receptions and community functions, while its current use continues to support a varied programme of village events. Organisers can book the space for one-off sessions or arrange regular block bookings.

Facilities include trestle and bistro-style tables and chairs, some furniture for young children, an accessible toilet and a galley kitchen with tea- and coffee-making facilities. The venue is run by local volunteers and is available to hire throughout the year. Hourly rates vary by day, with separate pricing for longer-term block bookings.

Located on Main Street beside the village war memorial, the Old School Room offers a convenient local option for organisers who need a modest-sized hall rather than a large function venue. Its historic character and practical facilities make it well suited to community gatherings and relaxed celebrations. Enquiries and bookings can be made directly with the venue team by phone, email or the website contact form.
