The Old Cow Shed

Set in the Leicestershire countryside near Kirby Bellars, The Old Cow Shed is a family-run venue for weddings and other celebrations. Its former farm buildings and outdoor areas give organisers several distinct spaces to shape around their plans, whether they are arranging an intimate gathering or a larger wedding day.

The restored Shed provides an indoor setting for dining and ceremonies, while the covered Courtyard offers another option for receptions and celebrations. The green Paddock adds room for outdoor gatherings, games and ceremonies, with a patio and festoon lighting helping guests enjoy the surroundings into the evening. Tables, wooden chairs, ceremony benches and outdoor seating are available as part of the venue hire. The team describes the arrangement as dry hire, so couples can choose their own decorations and bring in suppliers, with a preferred list of caterers available for ideas.

Weddings can include a ceremony at the venue, with options for a humanist celebrant or a legally conducted ceremony. The venue team supports organisers from the initial visit through to the event day, including coordinating suppliers. A staffed bar serves drinks, with packages for wine and celebratory fizz, and an outdoor cocktail bar is available seasonally. Organisers can also arrange live music, DJs and their own catering team, subject to the venue's practical requirements.

For celebrations that continue beyond the day, the Big Barn provides accommodation with a bridal suite and three double bedrooms. Three shepherd huts offer additional guest stays, and the recently renovated Lovers Lodge adds further accommodation. With its rural setting, flexible indoor and outdoor spaces, overnight options and hands-on support, the venue is suited to couples planning a distinctive countryside wedding or a private event with room to make the day their own.
