Michael D. Rose Theatre

Michael D. Rose Theatre is a University of Memphis performance venue available for event bookings by external organisations and individuals, subject to university approval. Its main auditorium has a fixed seating layout for around 930 guests, making it suitable for performances, talks, presentations, conferences and other audience-led events.

The theatre includes a substantial stage, a main lobby and a south lobby, as well as two dressing rooms and a green room. Organisers can use the lobbies for registration, guest gathering, displays or other event functions. The south lobby can also be arranged in several formats, including theatre-style, classroom, conference and banquet seating. The main lobby offers space for banquet tables and vendor tables.

On-site technical facilities include projection and a screen, a lectern with microphone, computer connections and equipment for video conferencing. The stage has professional lighting and sound infrastructure, with technical staff and other event personnel available as part of the booking arrangements. A loading dock and backstage access support event production and equipment movement. Parking options are available nearby, and organisers should coordinate their requirements with Conference and Event Services in advance.

Bookings are offered in set four- or eight-hour blocks, with initial furniture setup and an on-duty manager included. Staffing, audiovisual equipment, parking, security and other services may involve additional charges. External events must meet university policies, and use of the venue requires approval. The theatre is therefore a practical option for organisers seeking a large, technically equipped auditorium in Memphis, particularly for events that need a stage, fixed audience seating and dedicated backstage spaces.
