The Pump House Theatre and Arts Centre

The Pump House Theatre and Arts Centre is a distinctive Watford venue offering spaces for organisations, businesses and community groups to hire. Set in a converted Victorian pumping station, it combines a small theatre with adaptable rooms for meetings, workshops, performances and other gatherings.

The main auditorium has tiered seating for up to 124 people, a stage, backstage facilities and access to theatre sound and lighting equipment. It can suit presentations, talks, award ceremonies, performances and workshops. For events that need a more flexible layout, the Colne River Room has movable seating, a small stage and a PA system. It also has its own entrance, foyer and accessible toilets. Smaller bookings can make use of the Charles Room, while two upper rehearsal rooms offer additional space for training and group activities.

The venue also welcomes organisers planning conferences, fundraisers, staff parties, AGMs, product launches, business meetings and community activities. The Charles Room is suitable for smaller meetings, and the rehearsal rooms can accommodate workshops and training. Depending on the room and booking, facilities include sound equipment, licensed bar areas and a tea and coffee bar. Organisers can discuss bringing in their own food, as the Pump House does not provide on-site catering.

Rooms can be hired individually for shorter bookings or together for a larger event. The team can advise on availability, room suitability and arrangements for a particular date.
