Nan Couts Cottage

Nan Couts Cottage is a historic event venue in MacArthur Park, La Mesa, available for private and community gatherings. Organisers can hire the cottage for occasions such as weddings, receptions, birthday celebrations, baby showers, retirement parties, fundraisers and craft fairs. Its intimate, home-style character makes it a distinctive setting for events that suit a smaller, welcoming space.

The cottage accommodates up to 80 guests for a banquet or 100 in theatre-style seating. Inside, a cathedral-style ceiling and fireplace give the room character, while air-conditioning helps keep guests comfortable. A full catering kitchen is available for event use, and the venue also includes a large patio with picnic tables for additional space outdoors. Tables and chairs are provided as part of the rental, with organisers responsible for setting them up and putting them away.

Located within the MacArthur Park complex, the cottage offers a practical option for organisers seeking a self-contained venue in La Mesa. Weekend bookings are offered in set time packages, and weekday arrangements can also be discussed with the city’s recreation team. The rental period includes time for the event, setup and cleanup, so planners can factor those tasks into their schedule. Availability enquiries and booking questions are handled by the City of La Mesa’s Parks and Recreation department.
