BrickBox Theater at the Jean McDonough Arts Center

BrickBox Theater is a bookable performance venue in downtown Worcester, Massachusetts, within the Jean McDonough Arts Center. Organisers can hire the space for theatre, music, dance, film screenings, cabaret, talks and other audience events. Its industrial character and adaptable layout suit both intimate presentations and larger performances, with seating for 175 on the tiered risers and options to increase capacity to 290 using floor seating.

The venue comes equipped for live production, with stage lighting, a sound system, microphones, a screen and projector, plus basic streaming and recording equipment. Presenters can also arrange technical crew and production assistance, as well as front-of-house, ushering, concessions and box office staff according to the needs of their event. The JMAC team works with presenters through the planning process, and the venue promotes public events through its calendar and communication channels.

Support facilities include three dressing rooms with private bathrooms and showers, a green room, and a kitchen with laundry facilities. A separate rehearsal studio is also available to rent, with a sprung floor and piano. Booking options range from a six-hour hire to full days and multi-day periods, with rates differing by renter type. Applications are required in advance, and the venue recommends allowing more lead time for larger productions. BrickBox is a practical choice for artists, organisations and event planners seeking a technically equipped theatre space with on-site support in central Worcester.
