The Caroline Schoolhouse

The Caroline Schoolhouse is a historic event venue in Denton, Maryland, set in a former school building dating from around 1901. Its restored rooms offer an individual setting for meetings, receptions, private celebrations and other gatherings on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Organisers can book the Library, Bar Room and Restaurant Room separately or combine them to suit the occasion. The Library has built-in bookshelves and solid wood tables, while the Bar Room features a granite-counter bar, tall ceilings and large windows. The larger Restaurant Room retains original hardwood floors and generous windows, with architectural details that reflect the building's history. The rooms can host groups of up to 40 people indoors. The school grounds also offer space for outdoor occasions, with a large event tent available for gatherings of up to 200 guests.

The venue is suited to a range of event formats, from company meetings and mixers to receptions and family celebrations. Chesapeake Culinary Center, based in the schoolhouse, offers catering for events at the venue and elsewhere across the Mid-Shore. Organisers can discuss tailored menus and options such as buffets, plated meals, passed appetisers and casual service. The team also caters for weddings, with on-site and off-site arrangements available.

With its distinctive historic rooms, flexible booking options and catering available through the culinary centre, The Caroline Schoolhouse gives event planners a practical setting with a strong local character.
