The Scheltema Barn

The Scheltema Barn is a historic event venue in Caledonia, Michigan, offering a distinctive setting for weddings and other private celebrations. Built in 1837, the barn combines its period character with practical spaces for hosting gatherings of up to 175 guests. The venue is available for hire between May and November, with tours arranged by appointment.

Couples can hold their ceremony indoors or outside on the grass beside a secluded waterfall, then continue into the barn for a reception. The property also welcomes rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, graduation open houses and class reunions. Its different areas allow guests to gather, dine and socialise across the main floor, lower floor and outdoor spaces.

Facilities include a full kitchen, a bar, four restrooms and wheelchair-accessible main floors. The barn has a bridal suite, a bridesmaid loft and a private groom's lounge, as well as covered patios and a fireplace area. A separate outdoor seating area and the grounds provide further options for guests to enjoy the setting. Tables and chairs are not supplied, so organisers should plan to provide them. The venue's team can arrange a tour and share information about dates and reservations, including possible weekday availability. Set among lawns and historic features, the barn gives event planners a flexible location for ceremonies, receptions and seasonal celebrations in the Caledonia area.
