Decatur House

Decatur House is a historic Washington, DC venue available for weddings, receptions, conferences, holiday parties and other private or corporate gatherings. Just a block from the White House, the property brings together distinctive period interiors and outdoor space in a central city setting.

Event organisers can choose from several areas, including the Carriage House, the brick Courtyard and the Entertaining Parlors inside the historic house. The spaces can be used individually or combined, with options for intimate occasions as well as larger celebrations. The Carriage House can accommodate up to 250 standing guests, while the Courtyard can host up to 300 standing. The Courtyard can be arranged for an alfresco reception or used with a tent, making it a flexible setting for dinners and celebrations.

The venue specifically welcomes wedding receptions, and some rental options include time for a ceremony rehearsal. Other bookings can suit business functions, conferences and social events. Guided tours of the historic house are included with many rentals, giving guests a chance to experience the property as part of the occasion. On-site special event coordinators are available to assist during the event, including set-up and clean-up.

Catering, tenting, valet parking and most event equipment are arranged separately, and Decatur House provides a preferred supplier list to help organisers plan these services. The venue also has specific requirements for certain technical equipment and providers, so event planners should discuss their plans with the rental team when enquiring. With historic rooms, a courtyard and a carriage house in one location, Decatur House offers a memorable backdrop for occasions in the heart of the capital.
