Kerk Leegkerk is a distinctive event venue on the outskirts of Groningen, where a medieval church building meets a contemporary interior. The church dates from the first half of the thirteenth century and stands in a rural setting, a short distance from the city. Inside, a modern golden structure creates a striking contrast with the historic walls and characterful interior.
The venue is suitable for business meetings and family occasions. Organisers can hire the church for weddings, receptions, meetings, team days, symposiums and concerts, among other events. The entire space is hired as a whole, so guests can use both the nave and the chancel. Hire by the half-day is possible, making the venue suitable for both a short programme and a gathering that needs more time.
Kerk Leegkerk can accommodate up to 80 people. Facilities include individual chairs, a sound system, a stage, a kitchen, wifi, heating, a cloakroom and a toilet. There are also parking spaces and a piano or grand piano. With its intimate scale, historic appearance and modern facilities, the church is ideal for organisers who want to welcome their guests somewhere distinctive. The surroundings also provide a rural backdrop for events, while Groningen remains close by.
For information about availability and hire, organisers can contact the venue. The church is accessible by bicycle and by car, and offers a characterful setting for gatherings where architecture, atmosphere and coming together all play a part.
