The Longhouse

Set among the trees of a large wildlife preserve in Stokesdale, The Longhouse offers a private setting for weddings, receptions and a wide range of social and business gatherings. The timber-framed hall features exposed beams, hardwood floors and a high ceiling, with a prominent stone fireplace adding warmth and character. Its open layout can be arranged for different kinds of occasions, from a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner to a company celebration, seminar, award dinner, reunion or birthday party.

The main hall measures 29 by 70 feet and can seat up to 175 people. A balcony overlooks the room, while the spacious kitchen provides counter space, refrigeration, a warming cabinet and a three-compartment sink for event caterers. The venue also has bathroom and storage facilities, plus separate dressing rooms for the couple on wedding days.

Outside, guests can enjoy a wraparound porch, picnic grounds and views towards the lake. The peaceful setting feels removed from the city, while remaining accessible from Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem. Organisers can use the venue for formal events or create a more relaxed gathering, with the indoor hall and outdoor surroundings offering different ways to shape the occasion. The Longhouse is available to hire for weddings and other functions, and rental fees also support the Shining Acres Foundation, which owns the property.
