701 Whaley

701 Whaley is a historic event venue in Columbia, South Carolina, offering a collection of distinctive spaces for weddings, receptions, meetings, fundraisers, arts events and private celebrations. Set within a restored former mill community building, the venue combines original architectural features with flexible rooms that organisers can book individually or bring together for larger occasions.

The Grand Hall is the largest space, with tall windows, a glass storefront and a grand staircase. The Pool offers a more unusual setting, with original mosaic tiling, skylights and a glass floor. For smaller gatherings, the Granby Room has a street-level position and original wood columns, while the upstairs Olympia Room features hardwood floors and high ceilings. The separate Market provides an indoor-outdoor option, with a covered porch and doors that can open to the outside. A bridal or green room is also available as an add-on.

Depending on the event, spaces can suit anything from an intimate dinner or ceremony to a large reception or corporate gathering. The property also has a paved courtyard and a spacious area for catering. Tables and chairs are included with room rentals, while organisers can choose their own caterer and bartending service. Additional styling, décor and event equipment can be arranged separately, giving planners flexibility over the look and practical details of their occasion.

With several room sizes and combinations available, 701 Whaley offers event planners a characterful setting for both personal celebrations and organised functions in central Columbia.
