The Strand Event Center

The Strand Event Center is a historic venue in downtown Hays, Kansas, available for weddings, receptions, private celebrations and business functions. Originally built as a theatre in 1917, the building retains distinctive period details, including high tin ceilings, decorative stencilling, a multi-level hardwood floor and its original stage. The restored interior offers organisers a characterful setting for gatherings of up to 250 guests.

Venue hire is offered in several packages. The basic option includes tables and chairs and access from the morning of the event until the following morning. Higher-level packages provide a longer hire period and can include set-up and take-down, cleaning, table linen, use of the outdoor patio and selected bar extras. Weekday and hourly hire is also available, subject to availability.

The venue has an in-house bar serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Outside alcohol is not permitted, while organisers may choose their own caterer, provided the catering business holds a valid licence. The Strand’s team can discuss event arrangements and available dates directly with organisers. Its historic architectural features, original stage and central location make it suitable for couples planning a wedding as well as hosts arranging a party, reception or business gathering. Tables and chairs are included with the basic hire, with further practical and decorative options available through selected packages and add-ons.
