On the edge of the Nieuwe Waterweg, in a national monument dating from 1886, you'll find Torpedoloods – a charming place where history, hospitality, and creativity converge. What was once a storage facility for naval mines and torpedoes is now a vibrant venue for lunch, dinner, meetings, parties, overnight stays, and even weddings .
In 2014, Torpedoloods was opened by a young and ambitious owner, full of energy and entrepreneurial spirit. Without a large initial capital investment or years of experience, but with a tremendous amount of passion and perseverance, she breathed new life into the building. That creative and innovative energy remains the heart of Torpedoloods. We strive to continue improving, surprising, and transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary – in every detail, every dish, and every event.
Over the years, Torpedoloods has grown into a beloved meeting place for companies, couples, and bon vivants. In 2018, the team expanded with Hotel Amerika in the center of Hoek van Holland – a second hotel with a bistro, where guests can also hold meetings or celebrate a fabulous party. Even in challenging times, the Torpedoloods team continued to move forward with unwavering energy. Together, we continue to build a place full of atmosphere, taste, and special memories .
History & Heritage
The Torpedoloods is a national monument and was built in 1886 to store naval mines. Over the years, the building has served various military purposes, including as an ammunition depot during World War II. Since 2014, it has reclaimed its function as a hospitality venue – with respect for the past and a contemporary approach to hospitality.
With its eclectic architectural style , robust character and unique location on the water, Torpedoloods is today a place where history and experience go hand in hand.
